our philanthropy

Alpha Phi Gamma's official National Philanthropy is the Fight Against Violence Towards Women, which was voted on by our Sisters at the first National Conference in June 1999. The Sisters wanted to focus more on a cause that was not as strongly supported as others but affected the lives of many women around the world.

Domestic violence is a silent yet growing issue in society, with its effects scarring the face of the world. Our Sisters have committed their efforts in spreading awareness about this global issue and volunteering with shelters and organizations to help raise funds for this cause.  In addition, Alpha Phi Gamma strengthened their commitment by becoming a member of the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence (NCADV), a non-profit grassroots membership organization working to:

  • Eliminate domestic violence

  • Empower victims of domestic violence

  • Unite our voices

  • Alert and educate the public

  • Build partnerships

Many women today are affected by violence, but are afraid and believe they have no place to go for help. The only way to help these women is by learning how to help them and executing it. If you or someone you know is affected by violence - NOW is the time to take hold of this issue. Being proactive is the only way to prevent Violence Toward Women.
